According to the plan, the Tuyen Quang City Festival will take place from September 20-27, 2023. However, for about a month now, the streets of Tuyen Quang city have already become bustling with preparations for the Mid-Autumn Festival. This is a large-scale event and aims to become an international-level festival.
At the festival, you’ll be able to admire giant lanterns, some up to 20 meters in size , made of bamboo frames, covered with fabric or paper, and brightly decorated . Or immerse yourself in the lively sounds of trumpets and drums and enjoy traditional dance performances by the local people. This vibrant atmosphere will surely make your Mid-Autumn Festival even more memorable.
At the Thanh Tuyen Festival, you can rent pretty little lanterns or rent a bicycle to cycle through the streets, admire the beautiful scenery, and enjoy delicious local food .
With its impressive investment, the Thanh Tuyen festival has outstandingly received 3 Guinness Vietnam records, including “Largest Mid-Autumn Festival Feast in Vietnam”, “The Night with the Most Unique and Largest Mid-Autumn Lantern Models in Vietnam”, and “Largest Pair of Lanterns in Vietnam”.
In addition, this year’s Thanh Tuyen Festival will be held in conjunction with the 14th “Through the Heritage Regions of Viet Bac” tourism program, promising to bring many interesting activities for tourists.
You might be surprised to learn that the Mid-Autumn Festival lantern procession can also be combined with sporting activities. In recent years, during each Mid-Autumn Festival, we have become very familiar with the image of crowds of people running and carrying lanterns, a sight unique to Kon Tum.
This movement originated from a small activity among students; every Mid-Autumn Festival, the whole class would get together to make lanterns and organize lantern processions. But instead of the usual slow procession , the lantern processions in Kon Tum often include bursts where participants have to speed up, creating an extremely lively atmosphere.
Besides the brightly colored lanterns illuminating the streets, the Mid-Autumn Festival in Kon Tum also features lion and dragon dances, adding to the festive atmosphere .
Finally, a complete Mid-Autumn Festival would be incomplete without the traditional activities of sharing food and lighting lanterns. This is a wonderful opportunity to meet and gather with friends and family.
Starting around the beginning of the seventh lunar month each year, the streets of Tay Ninh city are filled with the atmosphere of the Mid-Autumn Festival, with stalls selling mooncakes and lanterns.
On the Mid-Autumn Festival, communal houses throughout the province will hold ceremonies to pray for bountiful harvests, thanking the guardian deity and the god of agriculture for their blessings. For the Chinese community living in Tay Ninh, the Mid-Autumn Festival is also the day to honor the God of Fortune (Ông Bổn).
But the most bustling event on this day is still the Yaochi Palace Feast of the Cao Dai religion. Every year, during the Mid-Autumn Festival, not only Cao Dai followers but also a large number of people in Tay Ninh participate in this festival. What makes the Feast particularly well-known is the dragon dance performances around the Tay Ninh Holy See . Giant, colorful dragons , skillfully manipulated by professional artists to the music of traditional instruments like gongs, drums, and horns, are sure to leave a lasting impression on the audience.
